This reminds me of the riot it caused when Adele suddenly started taking care of herself and lost a tone of weight. All these overweight- (trying to be politically correct here)- women, felt sooooooooo betrayed by her. Betrayed by what? Because they felt if she looks that way then it's ok for them to not do sport or take care of their bodies at all? The only constant thing in life is change. People make decisions, and that leads to change. The worst thing I can imagine is meeting somebody after years, and the first thing I hear is: Wow, you haven't changed a bit since the last time. I would punch myself in the face for that. If you say you don't like change, that means you are close to forty and still sitting on your mama's couch down in the basement, wearing your pants below your butt... Still wearing sneakers without laces or your cap twisted to the side. Or some other horrible trend that was cool while you were a teenager. There is a season for everything and you better recognize what season you are in.
Btw I never liked billy. Her rebel looks always appeared too constructed to me. But as girls grow up, they begin to discover their sexuality. And they enter the phase where their like to show it off. Making a clear cut between what they used to be and what they have become. Just like Miley. She turned into a woman and didn't want to fit into your parent's imagination of a perfect world where their little princess never grows up. But they do grow up. And that's perfectly fine. It's called development.
